Utility locating is both an art and a science. To complete a map of things unseen requires a systematic and creative approach. The material the utility is made of, the surface and subsurface conditions all impact the results and the reliability of the technology. One way C Below addresses this issue is using multiple methods of verification to offset any weakness a particular technology may have on it’s own.
GPR sends a signal through material and the signal bounces back when it finds an inconsistency. For example, when locating rebar or conduit in concrete, the signal travels through the concrete and bounces back when it hits the rebar. If a conduit or other object was located directly beneath the rebar, it would be hidden from detection.
When locating non-conductive lines in fields or roads, the surface and soil conditions play a big part in the accuracy of the readings. Broken or missing tracer wires require an additional method be used to trace the line. Our team is trained to qualify the level of detail you need so we can make recommendation when challenging conditions are met in the field.
Even in the most challenging of conditions, solutions can be found to obtain the information needed. These solutions may not always be cost effective. Our team will work with you to navigate these difficult decisions. Potholes can often be eliminated when electronic detection can accurately identify that there is no conflict for your project. Exclusion of inexpensive irrigation lines is a standard practice to save you time and money. Our goal is to deliver what you need as efficiently as possible, without compromise.
